To be eligible for this category, the performer must not receive remuneration for the performance or for working in or on the production.  The only exception to this rule is the reimbursement of costs associated with purchasing items for the production or travel to or from rehearsals/performances.

Please contact APT Awards if you are unsure whether a performer is eligible to be nominated for this category.

Individual Youth Performance

Individual Youth Performance will be considered from both adult and youth/school productions. A youth performer is defined as 17 years of age or younger.

Where the production rights specifically relate to a youth/school show and permits a performer to be 18 years of age or older, that performer will be eligible for the Individual Youth Performance category.

A Youth can be nominated for both Individual Performance and Individual Youth Performance categories but can only win one of the awards. Eg if a youth wins the Individual Performance in a Musical (adult category) for playing say Oliver in Oliver Twist, then they are not eligible to win the Individual Youth Performance (youth category) for the same role and performance and vice versa.

Double Casting

Double casting is when two actors are both cast in the same role and take turns playing the role during alternating performances eg during a production season the character The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera is played by one or more different performers.

The APT Awards are happy to attend alternate performances, giving all performers an opportunity to be recognised in their role(s).
